Which are the Components of the Triangular Theory of Love?
According to R. J. Sternberg's triangular theory of love, love consists of 3 main components: intimacy, passion and commitment, which form a triangle.
Intimacy
Intimacy is a feeling of closeness that is felt by loving couple. It can be expressed differently, for example, having the same interests, ideas, wanting to make the partner's life better, always being ready to help etc.
Passion
Passion is a physical attraction that brings to a sexual relationship. Passion is based not only on sexual needs but also on some components of intimacy, such as the need of belonging to someone and the need for support.
Commitment
When we love, we make some commitments to our love object. For us the person is special and we are loyal to him/her etc.
